Description:

Five minutes from East End's Columbia Road Flower Market, this L-shaped garden is situated in the middle of a 1970s ex-local authority housing estate and attached to the estate's community centre. The gated garden, which covers approximately 50 square metres, is very much an outward-facing one, designed and maintained by residents to maximise the pleasure and interest for passers-by. The planting consists of a mix of shrubs, climbers, perennials and annuals. The informal garden is an excellent and increasingly rare example of an urban, communal space which is loved and looked after.
