Description:
This strange, almost secret, little space is essentially the front garden of just nine 1860s houses, two terraces facing each other across it. The distinguished artist Paul Nash, born here in 1889, dismissed it as 'meaningless'; 120 years later it means much to those who care about and for it. Until recently it was tended, with haphazard love, by a few residents (no gardener). Now a professional element accentuates contrasting tastes and styles. A visit is an unavoidably intimate experience.
