Launched in 2013 as a project between the local community and Islington council,

The site (10 metres by 26 metres) had previously been planted and kept locked in response to over-use by dog owners who did not ‘pick up’..

Seventeen one-metre-square raised wooden beds are gardened individually (mostly vegetables), and surrounded by fruit trees, shrubs, and flowers. There is a water supply, seating area and communal tool box.

The gardeners agreed with the council to open to the public once a month.

Winner of Islington’s Lisa Pontecorvo prize in 2014, and the Green Flag award in 2017.

Chair: Rose Heatley
