Description:
London’s oldest botanical garden is a magical four-acre secret garden in the heart of the capital, hidden behind high walls beside the River Thames.

The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London originally set up the garden in 1673, to train their apprentices in the study of medicinal plants.

Today features include: the oldest rock garden in Europe; a Victorian fernhouse; medicinal plant beds; glasshouses containing Mediterranean plant collections and a historical walk displaying plants connected with famous past curators of the Garden, including Philip Miller, gardener from 1722 to 1770 and author of the 'Gardeners Dictionary', called the most important horticultural work of the eighteenth century.
