About Open Garden Squares Weekend 2018

London is jewelled with secret gardens – the private, hidden and little-known green spaces that weave through our urban landscape.

For one very special weekend this June, step outside the guidebooks and discover the gardens that make London green. Relax in the natural spaces tucked away on rooftops, in allotments and behind schools, shops, institutions and cafes, or unlock the private gardens of historic buildings and institutions. Spot some of the rarest plants and wildlife just beyond your doorstep, or experience the best of London’s culture with a programme of activities for all the family.

Whether traditional or experimental, urban gardens matter – they keep us cool in summer and warm in winter, give us space to breathe and exercise, and let wildlife flourish in the urban jungle. Make them part of your landscape this summer.

Your ticket gives access to all the gardens and green spaces opening across London – browse by region or look at the Highlights, Gardens and Activities pages to find out what’s open and what’s on.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a discount for National Trust members?

We no longer work in partnership with the National Trust, so the members discount no longer applies.

How can I book for balloted and special tour gardens?

Information and booking for the special tour gardens and walks will be available in 2018. Check out our Activities section for more information and sign up to our e-newsletter (below) and follow us on social media (below) to keep up to date.

When will guidebooks and tickets be mailed out?

When you purchase a ticket in advance online, you will be emailed an e-ticket for you to use over the Weekend. You can either print out this ticket to show to the gardens, or display it on your phone across the weekend. Guidebooks will be posted out to all ticket buyers in the spring.

Do you post guides and tickets outside the UK?

For ticket buyers who reside outside of the UK we regret we are unable to post out guidebooks due to postage costs. To arrange an alternative delivery address inside the UK (e.g a friend or hotel) please email tickets@londongardenstrust.org. Otherwise, you are able to collect your guidebook on the weekend.

Why haven't I received my ticket yet?

Your ticket is an electronic one and will have been emailed to your supplied email address. Please check your 'junk items' in case it has ended up there. If you still can't find it, please email support@eventcube.io

Whom can I email with queries about tickets?

With any queries relating to your tickets, please do email support@eventcube.io or tickets@londongardenstrust.org

If I decide not to go to Open Garden Squares Weekend, can I get my money back?

Sorry - tickets are non-refundable as is highlighted in our terms and conditions when purchasing tickets.

Is there a reduction for senior citizens or students?

We are planning reduced price tickets for students for 2018 - please check back for further details..

Is there a reduction for children?

Children under 12 are free, but will still require a ticket ordered online in advance or from one of the gardens on the weekend.

Is there a reduction for disabled visitors?

No, but one carer/companion may accompany a visitor with disabilities free of charge to help and share their enjoyment of their visit. Please do email tickets@londongardenstrust.org and we will issue the free ticket.

Can I buy Sunday-only tickets in advance?

Sunday-only tickets will become available on line from 4pm on Saturday 9 June, and can be bought from gardens on Sunday.

All my tickets have the same name - is this a problem?

No: we do not check the name of each party member.

Volunteer places closed until 2019!

Volunteers at Garden Barge Square
Volunteers at Garden Barge Square

Every year we look for volunteers for Open Garden Squares Weekend. Roles are now closed for 2018, but please email ogswvols@londongardenstrust.org if you are interested in volunteering for 2019!

Volunteers' main duties are to welcome visitors, check and sell tickets, and ensure that the garden is treated with respect.

No one has to be on duty for more than half a day and every volunteer receives a free ticket to the whole two-day event.
